Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This policy explains what information kitchenwithmommy.com (“Kitchen With Mommy”, “we”) collects, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, get in touch.
The short version
- You do not need an account to use anything on this site.
- We never sell or rent personal information.
- Your saved recipes, measurement preference and interactive tool inputs stay in your own browser. They are never sent to us.
- We only receive your email address if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter or send us a message.
- Recipe ratings are anonymous. We do not store IP addresses with them.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, and we earn a commission on some links to Amazon.
What we collect, and why
Newsletter sign-ups
If you subscribe, we store your email address, that you gave consent, the date, and the page you signed up from. We use this only to send you the newsletter. We rely on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying to any newsletter or contacting us, and we will delete your address.
Sign-ups are currently stored in the site’s own database. If we start using an email newsletter service to send it, we will name that service on this page before any addresses are transferred to it.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form, we store your name (if you give it), your email address, the topic and your message, so that we can reply. A copy is emailed to our own inbox. We keep messages for up to 12 months and then delete them, unless we need them longer to deal with a correction or a rights request you raised.
Recipe ratings
When you rate a recipe, we store the star rating so it can count towards that recipe’s average. To stop the same person or an automated script from rating a recipe many times, we also store a one-way coded value (a keyed hash) made from your IP address and a random identifier kept in your browser. It cannot be turned back into your IP address, and we do not store the IP address itself.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or city), the type of device and browser, and how people arrived. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on.
Security and delivery
Like every website, our web host receives your IP address and basic request details in order to send you pages. The site also runs through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and speeds up delivery; Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie. This information is used to run and protect the site, not to identify you.
What stays on your device
Several features store information in your browser’s local storage on your own device. None of it is uploaded to us:
- the recipes you save to your recipe box
- whether you prefer metric or US measurements
- ingredients and steps you tick off while cooking (forgotten after 12 hours)
- which recipes you have rated, and the random identifier described above
- everything you enter into our interactive tools (see Data Privacy for Tools)
You can remove all of it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Affiliate links
Some links to Amazon are affiliate links: if you buy something after following one, Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you click one, you leave our site and Amazon may set cookies on its own domain to attribute the purchase. Amazon’s own privacy notice then applies. We do not receive your name, address or order details from Amazon; we only see anonymous totals. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Cookies
Our Cookie Policy lists the kinds of cookies used on this site. In summary: Google Analytics cookies, a Cloudflare security cookie, and cookies Amazon sets on its own site if you follow an affiliate link.
Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. The only companies that process information on our behalf are our web host, Cloudflare, and Google (for analytics). We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process information outside your own country. They are responsible for protecting it under their own terms and applicable law.
Children
Kitchen With Mommy is written for parents and carers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent. To do any of these, use the contact form and choose “Privacy or my data”. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Keeping information safe
The whole site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to stored sign-ups and messages is limited to the site’s administrators.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, for example when we connect an email newsletter service, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
