About Kitchen With Mommy

Kitchen With Mommy is a small independent site about feeding a family. We publish recipes children will actually eat, practical kitchen tips, and honest guides to the lunchboxes, containers and feeding gear worth buying.

Recipes and buying guides sit side by side here on purpose. In a real kitchen they are the same problem: the lunch that comes home uneaten is as often a latch a six-year-old cannot open as it is the sandwich inside.

What we publish

  • Recipes and meal ideas built around ordinary constraints — twenty minutes, one oven, a child who will not eat anything touching anything else.
  • Kitchen tips on meal prep, storage and food safety, with the source guidance linked so you can check it yourself.
  • Buying guides for lunchboxes, containers, tableware and kitchen storage, written as decision frameworks rather than rankings.
  • Interactive tools that turn a vague question into a specific shortlist — the Lunchbox Builder, the Family Product Quiz, the Meal Planning Calculator and others.

How our recipes are developed

Our recipes are written around standard ratios and established technique, then written up with the parts people actually get wrong called out — the step where overmixing ruins the texture, the temperature that matters, the substitution that does not work.

Where we have not made a particular variation ourselves, we say so in the recipe rather than implying we have. You will find that stated plainly, for example, in the egg-free note on our banana oat muffins.

How we research products

Our buying guides are built from manufacturer specifications, published materials and safety standards, and recurring themes in owner feedback — particularly reviews written six to twelve months after purchase, which are the ones that reveal whether a latch or a gasket survives.

We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. You will not find invented star ratings, made-up prices, or a sentence like “we tested twenty lunchboxes” anywhere on this site. Where specifications cannot answer a question — how long a suction base holds, how a seal ages — we say that too.

Our full method is on the How We Choose Products page.

Where we defer to professionals

We are home cooks and product researchers. We do not claim medical, nutrition, paediatric, allergy or developmental expertise.

For food safety we follow published USDA and FoodSafety.gov guidance and link to it directly rather than paraphrasing from memory. For anything about your child’s growth, diet, allergies or development, please speak to a GP, paediatrician, health visitor or registered dietitian. Product safety questions go to the manufacturer’s instructions, age labelling and current recall notices first.

How we are funded

Some links on Kitchen With Mommy are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, KitchenWithMommy.com may earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through one of these links we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it does not change the price you pay.

Affiliate relationships do not decide what we recommend, and we do not accept payment to change a ranking or a recommendation. The full statement is on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

If we get something wrong

We will correct it and say that we have. Our Corrections Policy explains how, and you can reach the editorial team through the Contact page.
