Child Safety Disclaimer

Child Safety Disclaimer

Children should be actively supervised around kitchens, hot surfaces, sharp tools, small parts, cords, appliances, water, and cleaning products. Nothing on KitchenWithMommy.com replaces a parent’s or caregiver’s judgment.

Supervision is not optional

We never recommend that children use sharp tools, hot appliances, or small choking-hazard items unsupervised, regardless of advertised age suitability. Even “kid-safe” tools require adult oversight.

Age-appropriate participation

When we describe kids participating in a kitchen task, we mean a developmentally appropriate task (such as stirring, measuring, washing produce) under the constant supervision of an adult. Tasks involving heat, knives, or small parts should be performed by adults only.

Choking hazards

Under-3 children should not have access to small parts, hard round foods (whole grapes, hot dogs, hard candy), or detached small components. Always verify the manufacturer’s small-parts warning and age label.

Kitchen burns

Burns are a leading kitchen injury for children. Turn pot handles inward, use back burners when possible, keep hot beverages and cords back from countertop edges, and install stove guards if appropriate to your kitchen.

Water and cleaning products

Supervise children around sinks and bathtubs at all times. Store cleaning products high or locked — never decant cleaners into food bottles.

Step stools

Step stools enable supervised reach for older toddlers and preschoolers; they are not a safety override. An adult must remain present.

Recall awareness

Check official product recall notices before purchase and periodically thereafter. Manufacturer instructions are authoritative.
